The break is over.
Okay, okay. I get it...
Three people asked me about Sunny Bug today and I found myself giving excuse after excuse about why I've been MIA. It was just a little break.
I was tired. A little bored.
Really, nothing I was doing seemed blog-worthy. No crafts. No treats. Just work...as in a real job work. Not very Sunny Bug.
I suppose the Universe was trying to send me a message today because by the time I came home I was craving to jump online and start writing. I guess it comes with the blogging territory. I know I'm not the first blogger in blogging history to hang up the laptop and walk away from taking pictures every waking second of my day.
I just needed to find some inspiration.
And time. Seriously, where is the time going?
I have some stories to share...in fact, I have a whole story to share about this beautiful place:

Back to writing. Back to crafts and treats.
Break time is over. No more excuses.

Easy DIY Hostess Gift
Ok, I'll admit...this project was not rocket science. I did NOT invent something absolutely fantastic. In fact, I'm 100% positive this post will NOT go viral.
However...this project is easy and doable.
YOU can do this and you can give this DIY project as a gift and that special person will love it and they will tell all of their friends about your pretty little present...and before you know it, you will be the talk of the day and have a little following of people who think you should start your own DIY channel on cable and maybe even craft all of your presents from this point forward.
Ok, so maybe that's just what I think in my own head. Regardless, here's a little DIY hostess gift to inspire you.
This is what you will need:
- 1 pre-planted plant in a clay pot
- Acrylic paint
- Paint Brushes (various sizes)
Here's what you do...
- Start painting
- No templates needed - just go with the flow
- Less is more - pick 2-3 colors and stick with a less complicated design
That's it. Easy peasy.
What I'm talkin' about:
DIY crafts,
DIY gifts,
flowers,
spring crafts

A few things.
Time flies when you're having fun busy, doesn't it?
Wasn't it just the Christmas holidays? What happened? Not that I'm complaining or anything. I love any season other than freezing cold season...
It's officially spring, trees are blooming, and I just crossed Easter off my calendar.
The next big thing on my to do list is boarding a plane to attend my sister's St. Thomas wedding. In fact, the wedding will take place in exactly 2 weeks from today. The next 14 days will probably creep by...as in S-L-O-W.
In the meantime, between work and my crazy kids, life in general has been completely nutso. Here's a little peek into what's been happening in my house...
The hubs decided he was going to finally start on some of the wood projects he's been talking about. For his first project, he enlisted in the help of {little} kiddo as they designed and crafted a couple of birdhouses. My oldest decided her house was going to be a hippy bird house...where all hippy birds had to use the side door. {Because a simple painted house would have just been too normal.}
I told him he needed to start a blog. Now his phone is filled with project pictures...maybe someday.
My youngest can't wait to start kindergarten. In fact, instead of playing dolls she's practicing her letters and words. This time, she wanted to write rhyming words...so I picked one and from there she swapped out the first letter for a new {rhyming} word. Since she knows her letter sounds AND knows it rhymes with the first word, she suddenly realized she was "reading"
Oh Easter Sunday. Thank you for being so beautiful so my family can stand outside for 30 seconds and attempt to take at least one picture with no closed eyes {squinting acceptable!}, no peace signs, no mouths talking, and all eyes looking in the right direction. I will remember this day all year...because getting us to achieve "mission photo impossible" will most likely never happen again for at least another 12 months.
Speaking of Easter, after all of the jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, and all things pastel...I had to capture this cute bunny cupcake decorated by my super-talented mother-in-law. She's so sweet and always makes yummy treats. I just wish I had more room to eat all of the treats she made! {If I ever do open my dream bakery...she WILL be the first one I hire!}
Last but not least...
So before I sign off, I wanted to follow-up to a previous rant about Picnik shutting down. Once I got over the shock of my favorite go-to photo editing site shutting down...I decided to look around for a replacement. I was about to give up until I came across PicMonkey. Apparently the designers of this new site are former Picnikers who left and launched their own (BETTER) site. I'm in love. The bunny picture above was edited in PicMonkey.Check it out...PicMonkey features are all free (a future premium membership is expected to happen) and are very cool.

No scary bunnies allowed.
Jelly beans, chocolate bunnies, and hard boiled eggs...oh my!
Yep, it's that time. The Easter Bunny is making its rounds tonight.
So, I have to ask...am I the only one on the planet who thinks the Easter Bunny is the scariest thing ever? You know, the human-sized, furry bunny with big over-sized eyes and creepy buck-tooth smile...the same bunny who is supposed to be hopping into my house with a basket full of treats for my kiddos.
Of course, THOSE fake bunnies are just the Easter Bunny's helpers. The REAL bunny is a furry little floppy eared bunny with normal size eyes and mouth. No, I don't know where he lives...except I think he lives in a little bunny hole in Santa's neighborhood. The last time I checked, the Tooth Fairy leaves carrots out for him before she flies out every night. Yes, THIS bunny is allowed in my home...but if I were him, I would be mad at those fakes because they clearly are misrepresenting.
After spending the day of reassuring kiddo that the over-sized bunny will not be entering our home...in the middle of the night, I decided to make something new. I'd post a picture, but they aren't quite finished {yet!}. I'll give you a hint, it involves homemade marshmallows.
By the way, I will never, ever buy marshmallows from a store again.
I also crafted a little "before" and "after" for an easy gift. I'll share that soon too.
Happy Easter to you!

Etc.
It's been one of those weeks...and it's only Wednesday.
I never did make a St. Patrick's Day dessert. In fact, after smelling corn beef and cabbage for 6 straight hours...I opted completely out of it altogether.
I didn't drink green beer either.
I decided to revamp my Etsy shop instead...which was way more fun than listening to Irish drinking songs! The bad thing is, as I went though all of the pieces I wanted to list I realized I wanted to keep about 90% of it.
Stop by and see the shop...if you like pretty, sparkly, vintage jewelry, accessories and clothes {coming soon!} check out Miss Vintage Boutique. Everything I list is completely wearable and easy to mix in with everyday fashion or fun dressy outfits {and affordable!}.
I've been crazy busy at work...it does make the days go by pretty fast though.
Unfortunately, sitting though the kiddo's district wide middle school and high school choir concert was NOT fast. Yep, you win some and lose some...and then you accidentallyfall asleep shut your eyes for too long and then get startled by the group singing on stage. This is when I'm wondering if the mom next to me thinks I'm absolutely crazy and/or the worse mom on the planet for taking a nap during a school function. #parentfail
Oh, and then I had another kidney stone attack! Fun times! I'll spare you the awesome-ish details. :)
I am looking forward to the weekend...family night on Friday and then date night on Saturday!
Thankfully the week is *almost* over. Hopefully things are more exciting your way...
